Abstracts
My narrative art has always started as an abstract piece before I add the figure
but since writing my book on surface techniques, I found that I wanted
to try my hand at a more abstracted look. My problem is that I start collaging rather than stop and let it be. My big challenge is to hold back.

Summer Blooms, 12 x 12 mixed media on panel. Like many of my pieces they are influenced by what I am teaching in class at a given time. This has raised deconstructed stencils and paint skins for accents as well as a banner that is an image transfer.

Distant Cloudburst, 12 x 12 mixed media on panel. It was the start of monsoon season in the desert when I painted this. The clouds are incredible, sometimes there is hail with the cloudburst and the earth always smells so good.

Spring Fantasy, 12 x 12 mixed media on panel. I love spring as it means summer is not far behind. I can see life in my garden starting to emerge with the beginning of color. My garden becomes a tapestry of life.
SOLD
Calm, 12 x 12 mixed media on panel. Underneath rests an old painting that had demo upon demo painted on. I decided to collage a variety of vintage papers on top to create a much calmer piece.
